What is laser marking?

Laser marking is the permanent process of using lasers to mark workpieces or materials. Typically performed with a fiber, pulsed, or continuous wave, so laser marking does not involve tool bits which contact the marking surface and wear out, giving it an advantage over traditional engraving or marking technologies where bit heads have to be replaced regularly. Moreover, laser marking can quickly and accurately create permanent marks on the surface of various materials. For different materials and work processes, the most common types of laser marking applications are annealing, staining, removing, foaming, carbonizing, engraving, and etching.
